Are you an experienced Production Manager working within the Engineering and Manufacturing field? Do you have experience dealing with customers & internal stakeholders? Are you confident with managing complex one off and low-volume builds? Then we have a fantastic opportunity for you!

The role involves being responsible for the management of post order, supply only prototype vehicles and manufacturing activities including design coordination, procurement, production and manufacturing support with documentation aiming always to deliver the prototype within time and budget.

The right candidate will champion and facilitate a culture of continuous improvements focusing on improving lead times, increasing throughput and cost reduction activities. The ability to be able to engage and create collaborative relationships across multiple functions including Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Finance as well as with business unit leaders is critical.

The role will be based in Oxford.

The role: 

  • Management and coordination of a multi-skilled team in the conversion of existing vehicles to autonomous ready vehicles (cars, vans and/or trucks).
  • Agree the allocation of production resources to support delivery of prototype vehicles.
  • Ensure that procurement, technical work is understood and timing to deliver the prototype build as agreed with the PMO
  • Build Engineering – Validation of designs, parts and processes
  • Rigorous planning and management of resources to ensure on time and in full delivery focusing on improving quality and consistency.
  • Engage and create collaborative relationships across multiple functions including PMO, Engineering, Finance and Head office.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify and eliminate showstoppers
  • Champion and facilitate a culture of continuous improvements focusing on improving lead times, increasing throughput and cost reduction activities. 
  • Management, briefing and direction of the team. 
  • Undertake any other work in connection with their job as may be requested.
  • Develop and manage a detailed production schedule and day to day plans

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years proven work experience as a Production manager or similar role
  • Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar
  • Prior experience in automotive, aerospace, and/or technology production and manufacturing
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
  • Experience working directly with technical leads
  • Ability to effectively manage risks and issues as they arise
  • Solid organisational skills, including multitasking and time-management
  • Ability to build strong relationships with project multi-disciplinary teams
  • Hands-on experience with project management methodology and tools
  • Detail and process orientated
  • Effective at working with other team members to gather the required information
